It was occupied by Italians during Italy’s Fascist regime in Ethiopia 1936-1941. Short after the occupation Piassa became a central location in Addis Ababa for trade, entertainment, and of course cafe’s. Rich with culture and history, Piassa is a location Ethiopians are proud to claim as their own.

Somalian emcee K’naan came to Addis a couple of weeks ago to perform at the FIFA world cup tour. If you don’t know about K’naan you should! Look him up. I wish him success as he brings Hip-Hop back to its thoughtful roots.

Last Saturday my Church held a lunch for local Street boys. The program works with the young men in the hopes of furthering their education and family reconciliation. This crew is SO much fun to chill with! I look forward to getting to know them better in the coming months.

In early July I began a journey that has been non stop with some trials but mainly exciting new Experiences. Back in May I left a great job as a staff Photographer at Samaritan’s Purse International relief organization (for those interested sorry but the position is filled). The job opened my eyes to the world and kept my dream of living in Ethiopia alive.  I lived here for a short period in 2005 but I felt I had to be back. I was blessed to join a great magazine that I have been shooting for almost every day. The magazine is aptly named Addis Life. Addis being Amharic (local language) for new. Its an Image/ Design heavy lifestyle magazine that’s going to be the real deal!

Im sorry for not posting in forever but that is going to change as I hope to shoot and post on a regular basis. I live in Africa.. No excuse.. except for spotty internet. But make sure to come back by a check out what’s going on here.

Last Week my best Bud’s and I went to Canada. It was one last trip together before I move to Ethiopia. We drove over 3,500 miles in 9 days. UMM Ridiculous! The Photos I’ve posted are some of the favorite places we visited. My Favorite stop was the Ghost Lab in Nova Scotia. The Ghost Lab is a research facility of McKay-Lyons Sweetapple Limited.
